Story

Kitchi-Manitou: The Great Mystery

1. Anishinaabe and Ojibway were killing each other over hunting grounds and other disagreements. Kitchi-Manitou decided to flood the Earth to purify it.
2. Nanaboozhoo survived and other animals and birds who could swim and fly
3. They all tried to reach the bottom of the water to grab a piece of dirt, all failed except for the muskrat.
4. Muskrat sacrificed his life so that life on Earth could begin anew.
5. The turtle wanted his back to bear the weight of the piece of earth. The island grew larger and larger.
6. This island is now known as North America.
