Energy and the Great Spirit
Indigenous Peoples believe that all power comes from a common origin - the same energy inhabits all things Some thing share a greater quantity of this spirit or energy, while others have less of it. We often address the Great Spirit as the Creator. It reveals itself in nature and it is a power they encounter in everything.
The Trickster
Important figure in the creation of the world. They’re impulsive, a bungler, a joker or buffoon. They act as if there is no moral value. Lastly, they often are pleasure-seaking and troublemakers.
The Shaman
Knowledge of spirit is passed down through spiritual oral teachings. They perform rituals that keep the world in balance. They use powers to better the community
- Help hunters find prey
- Make it rain for farmers
- Making love charms
- Heal the sick
They are physical and spiritual healers. They have extensive knowledge of medicines and herbs.
Elders
They are teachers, advisors, and guardians of traditions. But they are not always the oldest.
